Phyllis Naylor received the Anne V. Zarrow Award in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The award is presented to an author who has made a “significant contribution to the field of literature for children and young adults.” It is sponsored by the Tulsa Library Trust and the Tulsa City-County Library.
Fred Bowen’s picture book No Easy Way: The Story of Ted Williams and the Last 400 Season (Dutton) has been named to the list of Top Ten Sports books for kids by Booklist. The list is in the September issue. Fred’s most recent book, Throwing Heat (Peachtree), has been named a Junior Library Guild selection for Fall 2010.
