Saving Puff - A Pufflin Rescue Story

By:

Jennifer O'Connell

Late one night, Emma rescues a stranded baby puffin on an island in Iceland. “Puff,” as Emma names her rescue, is too young and small to survive in the ocean, so she takes him home to care for him. As Puff grows, Emma becomes attached to the fledgling. When he finally weighs enough to be released to the sea, she wonders if he’s truly ready - or is she the one who isn’t ready?
Saving Puff is a fictional story inspired by the real-life puffin rescue tradition of families on the island of Heimaey, Iceland, where Jennifer visited to research this book. Extensive back matter describes the “Puffling Patrol” rescue team, the endangered plight of the Atlantic puffins, how to help them survive, and more.
