Books: Gopher to the Rescue! A Volcano Recovery StoryA picture book  for grades K-5 about the recovery after the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens Volcano. The book follows the healing of the ecosystem as plants and animals colonize the devastated flanks of the mountain. It chronicles the surprising role that tiny gophers played in speeding up the recovery after the volcano.

The Women’s Liberation Movement, 1960 -1990 The history of the awakening of the women’s movement when women, who had not been able to take advantage of having won the right to vote, felt relegated to the home after WWII and discovered their dissatisfaction with the male dictated status quo. In response to Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique, and fueled by young women’s involvement in the civil rights movement, and protests against the Viet Nam War, women began to demand equal treatment and equal rights.
