Caroline Brewer is an award-winning children’s book author, an artist, environmentalist,
and literacy consultant.
Caroline is the author, most recently, of Anansi and the Talking Cloth.
Anansi and the Talking Cloth is an original folktale about a crisis in Anansi’s city
Caroline is also the author and illustrator of the recent award-winning picture book,
Harriet Tubman, Force of Nature, A Biography in Poems. Harriet Tubman, Force of
Nature is a meditation on Harriet’s legacy of oneness with nature and how she used it to
free herself, more than 70 others on the Underground Railroad, and more than 700 during the Civil War. Expressed in 30 poems, with captivating, uniquely-styled collage illustration, there’s never been a children’s biography of our beloved Harriet like this.
She is author of the award-winning Say Their Names, a picture book that
provides a journey of healing, community engagement, dignity and self-worth in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder by police.
Caroline has worked with tens of thousands of teachers, students, parents, and librarians as a literacy consultant. She also has decades of experience in storytelling as a journalist, children’s book author, and public relations professional, working with national celebrities, members of Congress, the Obama White House, and grassroots organizations. She lives in Washington, D.C.
