Moira Donohue

Moira Rose Donohue is the author of over 40 books for children, mostly nonfiction. After practicing banking law for 20 years, she felt the call of children’s literature and never looked back. Her most recent releases are European Americans, part of a series about America’s ethnic diversity (BrightPoint Press) and 5-Minute Dinosaur Storiesfrom National Geographic (2024). Her book Tapping Feet: How Two Cultures Came Together to Make an American Dance (published by Reycraft Books in 2023) was awarded the 2023 Florida Book Award Bronze Medal for Older Children’s Literature and her picture book Stompin’ at the Savoy: How Chick Webb Became the King of Drums (from Sleeping Bear Press 2021), won the 2021 Florida Book Award Silver Medal for Young Children’s Literature. Several of her titles have received starred reviews. Originally from New York City, and an avid tap dancer, Moira now lives in St. Petersburg, Florida with her dog, Sherlock where she continues to work on new books.
